From the Indicator:
In the triumphant tradition of past years, the Math Team, led by Captain Joseph Alper, continued to present a formidable challenge to every Math Team in the city. Under the supervision of Mr. Greenberg, the team successfully adopted a new plan of attack which was responsible for many of its victories. Even Bronx Science did not withstand the onslaught. Since Joe Alper does not want the fine tradition of the team to be broken when the Class of '59 graduates he has conducted practice three times a week in the "crypt." Encouraged by the happy faces and bright smiles that he has seen at these 8 A.M. sessions, Alper says that the team will be even better when the Seniors have moved out to make room for the great crop of Juniors. High scorers this year were Seniors Alper and Sachs, and Juniors George Bergman and Mel Hochster. Other regulars included Ted Brown, Charles Feltman, Mark Herman, Charles Levine and William Vitale.
